ECON3376 - 01 - Econometric Theory & Practice
Description
Econometrics studies economic relationships, investigates economic theories with facts and real-world data, and tests hypotheses involving economic and societal behaviors. This course emphasizes both the theoretical and the practical aspects of economic analysis, focusing on techniques for estimating econometric models and for conducting tests of various interests to economists. The goal is to help develop a solid theoretical background in econometrics, the ability to implement the techniques and to critique empirical studies in the field of economics. We navigate through technical dexterity (understanding the tools) and empirical relevance (applying the tools): using software such as STATA will take away the burden on formula memorization and will allow us to focus on interpretation of the results.
